Why is it that NPR seems so pre-disposed against the current Democratic candidates? Their editorial bent all week has been that the race between Obama and Clinton is a problem, and how sad it is that poor McCain isn't getting enough coverage.
My guess is that much of NPR's audience falls on my side of the political spectrum. While this doesn't necessarily suggest they should tailor their coverage accordingly, there seems to be a distinct editorial bias creeping in. When even the progressive commentators fall on the center-right end of the spectrum, I get the sense that they are trying to create "balance" by tipping the spectrum too far to the right.

Al
Ever since his nomination was announced, I've been saying that I hoped Gore would win the Nobel. Now he has. Will I get the second part of my wish and see him jump into the race? That's anybody's guess, and I won't add to the echo chamber that's already building noise.
What I do find pathetic—and utterly unsurprising—is the speed with which the Fox-driven media fast food chain has begun the Nobel-is-a-sham backlash. What a sad climate and country we have created.

Tom Wolfe
Watching the Colbert Report, and Wolfe is on. He is, of course, dressed in the famous white suit and a contrasting striped shirt. The strange thing is the man is old--I mean, old--but he looks like a teenager. Either he has genes as immaculate as his suit or he is the living embodiment of Dorian Gray. The only telling sign is that he has a bit of a tremor. And he has the same hairstyle as Graydon Carter.
