pound puppies. really.

Some of the things that inspire enough nostalgia to continue being run amongst such classics as the old MGM cartoons, Chuck Jones-era Tom and Jerry, The Flintstones, and Hong Kong Fuey boggle the mind. To wit, I am sitting on the couch watching Pound Puppies with Banana. Thankfully, The Smurfs aren't on the schedule for the evening.

Finally!

I've been introducing Banana to the Looney Tunes oeuvre lately, but I can't afford to pick up the DVDs. I've had to rely on YouTube and Boomerang. All this time, I'd been missing a crucial character who never seemed to make it on to YouTube. Until now...

brilliant design sensibilities

This is a fucking brilliant cartoon.



Midway through, Banana wanted to know when the "real" shows were going to come back on. I told her to stop and watch. I explained that it was things like this that had taught me how to draw lines--and that it was my ability to draw lines that paid our rent. She stopped and paid attention. Together (I hadn't seen this toon in years), we oohed and ahhed over the brilliant design work in this one.
